Start-Up Charter Financing FAQ

Can a new charter bus company get financing?
Yes. We can underwrite start-up operators who have good personal credit, and we work across a wide credit window, from A+ to C.
Should my first coach be new or used?
That depends on your budget and the work you plan to run. We finance new coaches and pre-owned coaches of any age, from the major manufacturers including Prevost, MCI, Van Hool, Temsa, and Setra. Tell us the unit you’re considering and we’ll lay out your options.
What do I need to apply?
Smaller requests can go application-only: a credit application, recent bank statements, and a short company overview. Larger requests use our full-financials application, and guarantors complete a Personal Financial Statement. All of these are on our Resources page.
Can I get approved before I buy a coach?
Yes. Apply first and you can shop knowing what you can finance. Our affiliate, The Bus Coach, buys, sells, and consigns pre-owned motorcoaches and buses if you are still looking for the right unit.
Can my payments follow my season?
Yes. Seasonal payment structures let charter and tour operators skip up to three consecutive payments each year, and 90-day deferred payment options are also available.
Loan or TRAC lease: which is better for a new operator?
It depends on your tax position and how long you plan to run the coach. A loan builds equity from day one; a TRAC lease sets a residual value up front, which usually means a lower monthly payment. See the side-by-side comparison on our motorcoach financing page, and confirm tax treatment with your accountant.
Can Charabanc help with more than the financing?
Yes. Our corporate services include financial planning and operational analysis covering fleet management, safety, RFP preparation, and the latest regulatory changes affecting the industry.
